CURIOSITIES
During the process of writing "The Wars" (1977), George Lucas stated that he had noticed the complexity of the story was too large to occupy a single film. However, the Jedi are unaware that the Trade Federation has joined forces with the Sith Lord Darth Sidious, 
ordering them to kill the two Jedi, and proceed to invade Naboo with their battle droids. Sidious makes them see that this invasion will become legal, which suggests that manipulating the Senate of the Republic. The two Jedi manage to avoid his death, and infiltrate one of the ships of the invasion, down to the planet Naboo. There Qui-Gon saves the life of a Gungan named Jar Jar Binks exile when about to be crushed by a tank battle of the Federation. Indebted to the two Jedi, Jar Jar agrees to take them to the Gungan city of Otoh Gunga, where they try to enlist the help of residents to help the people of Naboo. He also feels that the Force is strong in the young, and sent a blood sample to Obi-Wan that detects a level of midi-chlorians which exceeds that of the venerable Master Yoda. For its part, Sidious learns of the escape of the Queen and sends his apprentice Darth Maul to Tatooine to find her. Qui-Gon discovers that Anakin is fond of dangerous racing pods, and bet with Watto to introduce the young in an impending race. If the young man wins, will be released.
