NARRATOR: "Now Willie may never sing opera. But do not be too hard on Tetti-Tatti, because he was not able to understand. Willie could sing which was a miracle, and people not accustomed to miracles. And you, a small and loyal friend, do not be so sad, because miracles really never die. Somewhere in heaven reserved for the creatures, Willie continues to sing, now with a hundred voices, each more dazzling than the last, and so glad that voice will sing forever. "CURIOSITIES

is the eighth Disney animated classic, and the third film package (consisting of various short) that the company premiered at the 1940. A total of six films about packages, the study created during a time of crisis since the Second World War. This film was followed by "The Adventures of Bongo, Mickey and the Beanstalk," "Melody Time" and "The Legend of Sleepy Hollow." After this, the study would recover thanks to the success of "Cinderella."
In "Music Master" was abandoned in the style of previous films packages "Saludos Amigos" and "The Three Caballeros." On this occasion not narrate cultural trips through stories, but tried to recreate the style of "Fantasia" combining short with music. The difference is that this time they tried to make use of modern music under the 1940 where the film premiered.
The animation of the poem "Evening Blue" had been created for the movie "Fantasia" in 1940, specifically for the short film "Moonlight." At the time the segment had to be cut, and decided to use it in this movie to a new musical composition.
In the segment of "The Bat Casey, you can see a sign on the stadium wall announcing that Mudville 9 are playing against Burbank in the decider. This is not nothing but a play on words to refer to the location of the Walt Disney Studios.
"The Andrews Sisters" helped the film in the segment "Story of a Love Affair." The group would return to work in the film package "Melody Time" in 1948, singing in the segment "Little Toot." Nelson Eddy sang in all shades, from base to soprano, in the short "La Ballena wanted to sing at the Opera."
The most popular segment of the entire movie was "Peter the Wolf", to maintain the style of a folk tale, with a use of music considered extraordinary. In fact, this segment has also been released on video and this is considered one of the Disney classic mini (Something that also occurred in the segment "Bongo" the following classic, for instance). However, the critics and the public did not welcome the film favorably. This was because it was the first release from Disney after the end of World War II. For this reason, the public expected that the study back in the style of his first five classics, something that did not occur.
When the film was released on video, short of "The Martins and the Coys" was removed from this. The reason was due to the use of firearms by the two clans who were hesitant to use them to finish against each other. This was regarded as excessive violence, although it was not shown to anyone dying at any time. Another reason was the implied violence between the surviving partner, although it was not visible, is implied by the objects and noises coming from the house. In short the segment was removed for its violence, and has never been released on video or DVD.

PERSONAL NOTE
I have always considered this film as the beginning of the recovery of Disney, but not standout as bright. I consider it the third best of the so-called six films that opened packages during the 1940's. In when making an assessment of the film is necessary to examine each segment, but if there is something we all have in common is the successful use of music, which is also representative of 1946.
In the film we see two types of segments, long and short. In general, and while you make a successful use of music, short segments are generally poor and poorly made. "Evening Blue" seems to have a coherent narrative purpose, and this is most evident when one realizes that it is a cut scene from "Fantasia." The same applies to "Three Words", which turns out to be nothing else than the attempt to introduce a song of love without any narrative. "After you left" shows a good idea, we of traro animated instruments to the beat of the music, but also ends short stay, without developing an idea that might have worked by providing a substantive argument. "A Dream in Silhouette" shows two dancers on which you draw a silhouette of color. Again we have a good idea that failed due to the chosen song and dance accompanied by a rather poor. Finally, the unique short segment that I thought was original "When cats Board" for being a brilliant allegory for the youth of the time, being is defined through the music he enjoyed. It achieves this segment inspire a sense of youth in the audience, regardless of the generation to which it belongs.
The other segments are longer and are more fun to show a story with accompanying argument very successful musical selections. It is the less funny the elimination of "The Martins & The Coys" because this I think is one of the three segments of the film better. I think too much worry about the alleged violence that shows, especially when it is developed in a comic, and turns out to be downright fun. Such violence does not seem concern to those responsible for the film in the segment of "The Bat Casey." In this case, shows an athlete with the attitude of an arrogant bully, but perhaps his inclusion is due to behavior that leads to failure, which functions as a moral right. "Story of a Love Affair" is like a story that defends the faith in love. I loved the originality of wearing hats "humanized." It shows the romance, separation suffering, seeking to find through some difficulties, and finally the triumph of love behind the tour suffered. The use of music is really exceptional. Coming to the second best segment of the film "The whale who wanted to sing at the Opera" is an extraordinary combination of comedy and drama. It shows us a character who is tender at the same time funny and original. Can not say anything of a whale that has the ability to sing opera. However, those funny moments leading to a tragic end which incidentally is the end of the film, something I'm not sure has been rather successful. Finally we arrive at the best segment of the film, and indeed the best known today, "Peter and the Wolf." For a child, the story is an adventure in which the protagonist is the hero that every child would be. The pattern of history continues the search, acquisition of partners in this, to finish facing a villain, in this case the wolf. The story also works for an adult, which evokes that sense of adventure that had to be kids, and a rare feeling of nostalgia.
Ultimately, the film as a whole does not seem bad, and even surpasses some classic post that did not work as movies package. Although the quality animation so exceeds that of the first five classic Disney has a very strong quality in their favor, and this is nothing but a great soundtrack, representative of an era.
