After the great success and welcomed by the Puerto Rican teachers and students back to the first stage of the country the great theatrical DOÑA BARBARA. Over 20, 000 students have had the opportunity to appreciate this staging. The immortal novel by Rómulo Gallegos on dominatrix of men, is in this version to introduce ourselves as civilization and barbarism faced reason and chaos. Taking as its starting point the script itself Gallegos, Roberto Ramos-Perea expanded and elaborated on those scenes in the novel that come into the psyche of the terrible and vengeful woman, whose charm any man to resist. And with great relevance and success comes DOÑA BARBARA, in these times of political and social barbarism is going through Puerto Rico.
The known history of the landed rich, tyrannical, soon conquered by the young lawyer arrived in the city, Luzardo, is interrupted by the presence of the young Casey, daughter Barbara, who falls in love with the young attorney. Mother and daughter are fighting for love the same man in the midst of the intrigues of the Venezuelan plains. The staging of this production emphasizes the human side of the characters and the relevance of each of them in our society. This setup has the distinction of showing the humanity of each of the characters, even the evil characters. The stunning design elements carry the viewer to this amazing world of chaos and barbarism, lighting and sound play an important role in the development of the plot. will Casañas-Cruz the indomitable Lady Barbara, Carlos Fontané play the young lawyer Luzardo, Rosabel Del Valle to the naive Marisela, José Armando Santos Figueroa to Juan Primito superstitious and Francisco Lorenzo Barquero Hood to consumed. Joining them will be on stage as the loyal Brocco Jose Antonio, Jose Luis Castillo will be the casualty Melquiades, Frankie plays the obnoxious Balbino García Paiba, Luis Javier Lopez with the corrupt Colonel Pernia and Willie Maldonado as the arrival Mister Danger. Rounding out the large cast Lorena López, José A. Soto, Johann Martinez, Alfredo Rodriguez, Ian Perez, Jose Daniel Pellot, Jorge Gustavo de los Rios, and Iris Nereida Arroyo Doel Morcilio. All under the masterful direction of Joseph Aguayo. The technical team is composed Alberto Segarra lighting and Frankie Garcia in the scenery. The sound design is Vivian Casañas-Cruz. The clothing is designed by José Armando Santos. Carmelo Lopez Jimenez in the props and scenery. The assistant director and stage manager stage is Anibal Rubio.
